Darboh Looking for More Offers

Amara Darboh is one of Notre Dame's top wide receiver targets for the 2012 recruiting class. The standout athlete from Dowling High School (West Des Moines, Iowa) was expected to make an unofficial visit to Notre Dame this weekend, but those plans have fallen through.

Amara Darboh (6-foot-1.5, 200-pounds) expected to be in South Bend on Saturday. He had been planning the trip for several months. Fortunately or unfortunately, Darboh has a basketball game on Friday night.

"I don't think I'll be able to make it, because we play on Friday, so I'm not sure," Darboh said. "If we win we'll have practice on Saturday and Sunday.

"I'm going to try to call coach Martin to let him know that I won't be able to make and figure out another time when I'll be able to come down there. I'm not sure when I'll be able to come over. I was just focusing on the junior day, because I thought that I'd definitely be able to come early on, but it isn't going to work out.

Darboh has scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Kansas State and Michigan State. He's been able to take several trips this year, and he's hoping to hit several more schools this spring and summer.

"I'm just trying to go out there," he said. "My coach has sent out some tapes so hopefully coaches like those. Then hopefully this summer I'll be able to go out to some places that I haven't been to and some places that I have been to and do some camps and work on some stuff.

"I'm thinking about going to camps at Michigan and Oregon. I've also talked to another recruit in Iowa about going over to USC and see how their camp is out there. I'd also like to get to Ohio State and Tennessee.

"Right now I'm just trying to stay open-minded," he added.
