Lewis impressed by Irish

Ohio defensive standout LaTroy Lewis took in the festivities during Notre Dame's recent Junior Day. Irish Eyes spoke with Lewis about the weekend and where he stands in terms of earning an offer.

With a deep class of defenders in Ohio for the Class of 2012, LaTroy Lewis knows there is plenty of competition to earn scholarships offers from programs like Notre Dame. The Akron (Ohio) Hoban standout visited the Irish on Saturday and spoke with Irish Eyes about his visit.

"It went well," Lewis said about his Saturday visit to South Bend. "I got a chance to learn more about Notre Dame and speak with a couple of the coaches."

When he first arrived, LaTroy got a chance to speak with his recruiting coach Ed Warinner, later in the day he spoke with Irish head coach Brian Kelly.

"I spoke with Coach Warinner and Coach Kelly towards the end of the event. I hope to earn an offer from Notre Dame, but right now it's a wait and sees approach with them."

A couple of different things surprised Lewis during his visit.

"I was very surprised by the campus. It was ridiculous and gets a grade of A. I was also surprised by the graduation rate of the program. Notre Dame is a tough school academically; however, to see such a great graduation rate was very impressive."

For now, LaTroy knows he will have to wait and see if the Irish extend an offer. With offers from Ohio State and Cincinnati, and interest from many others, Lewis will not be short on programs looking to earn his pledge in the Class of 2012.
