Wilson talks Irish offer

The Notre Dame coaching staff continues to identify prospects that they feel can help them. One of the latest prospects to receive an offer is safety Jarrod Wilson from Buchtel High School (Akron, Ohio).

Jarrod Wilson (6-foot-2, 190-pounds) has scholarship offers from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Toledo and West Virginia. He had been hoping for an offer from Notre Dame, but he certainly wasn't expecting one.

"My head coach got in touch with me last week and told me that Notre Dame had offered me a scholarship," Wilson said. "I called coach Warinner and he said that they did. I was really surprised.

"I look at it as a nice offer. It's a potential place that I may decide to go to. Academics is first, so if they have a nice sports management program, I would like that.

"I'm going to try to go to one of their spring practices or their spring game," he said. "I just know that they're a really good academic school. I know they have excellent programs there."

Wilson does not have a scholarship offer from the in-state Buckeyes, but even if he did, Wilson doesn't feel compelled to play his football in Columbus.

"I don't necessarily have to stay in Ohio, because I live in Akron," Jarrod explained. "I haven't talked to Ohio State in about two months, so I don't know what they're saying right now."

As a junior Wilson had 60 tackles, and 8 interceptions. Three of his interceptions he returned for touchdowns.
