Sheldon Day Talks Notre Dame Offer

Class of 2012 defensive lineman Sheldon Day picked up an offer from Notre Dame on Wednesday. He spoke with Irish Eyes about his newest offer.

One of the top names for the Class of 2012 in the Midwest has been Sheldon Day of Indianapolis (IN) Warren Central High School. Wednesday, Notre Dame offered Day a scholarship, one that has his family very excited about.

"Notre Dame is one of the best in academics. You get everything you need all in one school with Notre Dame; also, it is right up the road. Notre Dame has impressed me a lot and when I told my mother she started running around screaming."

Day learned about his offer after speaking with Irish defensive line coach Mike Elston.

"I called Coach Elston today and he told me they really loved my film. It was then he said I had an offer from Notre Dame."

At this point in his recruitment, Day has yet to visit Notre Dame. Plans are in the works to change all of that very soon.

"My mother is going to call Coach Elston tonight and set up a time for me to visit. I plan on building a relationship with Coach Elston and the other Notre Dame coaches very soon."

While it is still early in the recruiting process, Day has seen a great deal of attention. Watching those before him at Warren Central has helped him prepare for the rigors associated with the process.

"Getting a chance to watch guys like Kiaro Holts, Kris Harley and Nick Temple has really helped me in how to handle all this attention. Right now everyone is equal as I have not placed too much focus on all the offers yet."

Having high academic standards, Notre Dame looks to be a solid fit for the 6-foot-2, 278-pound defensive tackle.

"I'm thinking of becoming an engineer or studying pre-med and going into the medical field after college."
