Notre Dame offered Geno Smith (6-foot-0, 170-pounds) a scholarship last fall, and since that time, 20 other schools have stepped up and given him an offer.
The Irish already have a commitment from Tee Sheppard, but they'd certainly like to add Smith as well. That only way that will happen if the Irish get him up to campus.
"Me and Notre Dame are in contact," Smith said. "I talk to coach Martin and we've just been building a good relationship.
"We talked about me coming up to their summer camp for an unofficial visit. So that will happen sometime during the summer. I'm pretty sure I'll make it up there, I'm taking a lot of visits this summer"
Smith already has offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, USC, Vanderbilt, and Virginia Tech. With that many options already, he'll need to make some tough decision when it comes to taking unofficial visits this summer.
"I've been to Alabama and Tennessee," he said. "I want to get to Florida State. LSU and out West to USC for their ‘Rising Stars Camp'. There will be more, but those are the ones off the top of my head right.
"I'm planning on going to Ohio State's spring game also."
