Shepard Plans First Visit to ND

Tee Shepard from Central High School High School (Fresno, Calif.) surprised many last week when he became Notre Dame's fisrt commitment of their 2012 recruiting class.

When Notre Dame fans speculated as to which prospect would be the first Irish commitment for the 2012 class, Tee Shepard (6-foot-1, 175-pounds) likely wasn't on anyone's short-list. Despite the fact that he has yet to step on the Notre Dame campus, Shepard felt that he was ready to end his recruitment.

"I knew I wanted to go to Notre Dame," Tee responded when asked when he committed to the Irish. "I have 27 offers and I didn't want to waste the other coaches time, when I knew where I wanted to go.

"I love the coaches, I love coach Denbrock. I want to go to Notre Dame and make my own name and help them win games.

"I've always liked the school ever since I saw the movie Rudy," he said. "I know all the history and the tradition Notre Dame has. I just always liked the school and I'm excited to go to Notre Dame."

Shepard is making plans to visit Notre Dame in April for the annual Blue-Gold game. Although he is committed to Notre Dame and he insists that he will stick with his pledge, Tee does intend on taking his official visits next fall.

"I'm going to take my (official) visits," he said. "I just want to see the world. I want to have some fun. I told coach Denbrock and coach Kelly that I still wanted to take some visits and they said it was okay. They're not worried." Top Stories
