Recruited as a defensive lineman, Carrico was projected by Irish Eyes to be an offensive guard during his Irish career. That move came early in the spring as Carrico moved over to the offensive side of the ball and into the guard rotation.
No stranger to being on offense, Carrico will have some things to learn and the time to do so with the strength of the Irish offensive line. While he could see limited playing time this fall, do not be surprised if Carrico is saved this season as he continues to build upon his conversion to guard.
On the field Saturday, Carrico showed the ability to hold his own against players who have been in the program longer. However, he is not ready to be considered a player ready to man down a starting spot this fall.
A year from now should give us a better understanding of where Carrico stands with a year in the program and as a guard.
