One of the top linebackers in the Southeast has his eyes on a school in the Midwest, Jae Thaxton, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound, linebacker from Hartwell (Ga.) Hart County says Notre Dame is one of his favorites.
"I like Notre Dame a lot," said Thaxton. "Notre Dame hasn't offered yet. My offers are Georgia, Georgia Tech and Florida State.
"I don't have a leader right now. My favorites are Notre Dame, Miami, Florida State, Georgia and LSU.
"I don't plan on committing early. I'd like to take all five of my visits before making any kind of decision."
Thaxton will be a four-year varsity starter in 2003. He had 189 tackles as a junior and was named all-state the past two seasons.
Thaxton also letters in basketball and track. He projects as a middle linebacker at the next level.
