Irish Checking out Redmond

Two-way athlete Will Redmond has been watching one of his best friends bring in offers left and right. Since, the Memphis athlete has picked up five offers and is hearing from several others including Notre Dame. We get the latest on Redmond and the interest Notre Dame is showing him.

For each prospect there is a time when things can change quickly in the recruiting process. For Memphis (TN) East defensive back Will Redmond, the Irish are starting to show some interest.

"Yes, Notre Dame has been talking with me. Right now it has been all good as we have enjoyed good conversations. They are looking at me as a defensive back and wide receiver."

Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Memphis, Western Kentucky and Cincinnati all have offers on the table. However, Redmond is looking to make a visit to South Bend in the near future.

"I have never been to Notre Dame but plan on going up there sometime this summer with my teammate Brian Kimbrow."

For Redmond, the bond shared between Kimbrow and he goes all the way to the field.

"Brian and I are real competitive people and push each other every day. I feel this makes us each better athletes."

While he's never visited the Notre Dame campus, he does understand the benefits of a Notre Dame education.

"Notre Dame has a lot of history and the academics are second to none. It does not matter what school or conference you play at now because you can make it to the league no matter where you go. For me it will all be about the education."

As for what Will is considering to study in college, his answer may surprise you.

"Right now I am thinking about studying astronomy in college."

As for where he stands with the Irish, Will knows there is a process that needs to be followed.

"Coach Hinton wanted to get my highlights so the coaches could look at them and see me later on."

Irish Eyes will continue to follow the recruiting path of Will Redmond in the coming weeks. Top Stories
