Irish Check on 2013 Quarterback

Irish Eyes spoke with 2013 quarterback Kyle Bolin back in February about his dreams of Notre Dame. Now the Irish have made contact and Bolin is hoping that could soon turn into an offer from the Irish. We get the latest.

A year ago Kyle Bolin had the chance to meet Notre Dame running backs coach Tim Hinton. Now the Irish coach is reaching out to speak with the class of 2013 quarterback.

"I had a chance to meet Coach Hinton last year and had not really talked with him since then. But today my coach text me and said for me to call him and touch base. Coach Hinton said he is looking at coming down to my school and checking me out soon."

For Bolin, the chance to earn an offer from Notre Dame is something he would love to achieve.

"There is nothing better than Catholic football and Notre Dame is a prime example. When you grow up like me (Catholic) and go to church every Sunday and have only attended Catholic schools, the opportunity to attend and play football at Notre Dame, you cannot get better than that."

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound signal caller has just finished spring football and is excited about how his Lexington (KY) Catholic team is looking for the 2011 season.

"Spring football was a lot better this year than last year. We started like 13-14 sophomores on both sides of the ball last season and now we should start like 17 juniors. I was real excited as the offensive is looking great and the defense is looking spectacular. So I can't wait to start the season."

With one verbal offer already issued, Kyle has been told others are his for the taking.

"I have an offer from Illinois, but a lot of schools have told me all I need to do is go to camp and I will get an offer unless I just suck when I am there."

As for making the trip to South Bend, there are plans in the works.

"I plan on going with Ross Douglas of Avon (Ohio) High School this summer to several camps. His dad and my dad have become real good friends the past couple of years and we've been talking about just getting in a car and hitting a lot of school."

How did a quarterback from Kentucky and receiver/defensive back from Ohio came together is another story.

"There was a combine he and I were both invited to when we were both in 8th grade. My dad and his dad started talking back and forth and our families have become very good friends. This past season Ross and his dad came down and watched one of our playoffs games and then the next day we went over to Louisville together for a visit."

Besides attending college camps, Kyle plans on hitting up the Elite 11 quarterback camp and may also stay for the next day's Nike Camp on the campus of Ohio State later this month.

While it is still early, Irish Eyes will be checking back with Kyle in the future to learn more about the interest being shown by Notre Dame. Top Stories
