Pa. Offensive Lineman Will Visit Notre Dame

Boyerstown (Pa.) Area High offensive tackle Chris Muller has seen his recruitment by Notre Dame pick up lately, and he told IrishEyes.com he plans on visiting the campus next month. Come inside and find out when he will be on campus, what he thinks of the Irish, if an offer is in the works and how his recruitment has changed in the last few weeks.

The spring evaluation period has been eye-opening for Boyertown (Pa.) Area High offensive tackle Chris Muller.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound Muller is seeing increased interest from a number of schools, including Notre Dame, and it has altered his outlook on the recruiting process. In fact, Muller said Irish assistant coach Charley Molnar told him he will get an offer if he visits campus, and it looks as though that will take place.

"I'm probably going to go out there the third week of June," Muller said. "They want me to the see the campus, see what it's like, see the tradition."

Molnar stopped by Boyertown Area High last week, and Muller said he is taken aback a bit by Notre Dame's interest

"I think it's pretty cool," he said. "It's Notre Dame. You can't get much more tradition than that. I know a little bit about them. (Brian) Kelly is a good coach and I like the way Molnar runs his offense. I just talked to him last week."

Muller is also in the stages of building a relationship with Molnar.

"He's a nice guy, he's straight forward, he's organized," Muller said. "It seems like he's a good coach, and seems like he has a good game plan on what they're going to do."

Blocking in Notre Dame's spread offense is another thing that Muller thinks plays to his strengths as an offensive lineman.

"I think it will run well with the way I play," he said. "I think I'm pretty quick on my feet and probably run a quick offense."

Muller is Scout.com's 47th-rated offensive tackle in the 2012 class, and he holds offers from the likes of Florida, Michigan, Penn State and South Carolina. He is also setting up his summer visit schedule, and has a few trips already set.

"I'm going to be heading out to Penn State, South Carolina and Florida," he said. "That's pretty much it so far."

Muller gave Scout.com a loose top five a few weeks ago of Rutgers, Penn State, Virginia, Boston College and Florida, but he said the increased interest from a number of schools is causing him to pull back and re-consider his recruitment.

But it shouldn't change his timetable for making a decision.

"I feel like once I see the right school, once I get a chance to see everything, I'll be ready to commit," Muller said. "I still want to try and commit before my senior season."
