Ferguson Responds to New Offer

When high school prospects issue early verbal commitments there is time for others to jump on board. For Justin Ferguson the first test of his Irish commitment came this weekend. Irish Eyes has the latest.

Sunday found Pembroke Pines (FL) Flanagan High School wide receiver Justin Ferguson receiving the first test on his commitment to Notre Dame.

Ferguson, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound wide receiver, gave Notre Dame his verbal pledge on May 2nd becoming the sixth player to committee to Brian Kelly and the Irish class of 2012.

While most players feel a commitment places an end to others recruiting them, some soon learn most college programs will not end their pursuit of a player until he's signed his letter of intent.

On Sunday, Ferguson sent Irish Eyes a text message saying Alabama has now offered him a scholarship. When asked what that does to his commitment to Notre Dame, Ferguson responded with the following message.

"As of right now, I'm 100% ND. Nothing has changed."

While some questioned the skill set of Ferguson, Irish fans are now seeing why the Irish coaching staff was high on the talented wide receiver and happy he's passed the first of what could be many tests between now and National Signing Day.
