Perkins Makes Ten

Notre Dame's 2012 recruiting class grew to 10 when outside linebacker David Perkins of Washington High (South Bend, Ind.) announced he committed to the Irish moments ago.

Less than a week after picking up a Notre Dame offer, four-star outside linebacker David Perkins is a member of the Irish.

Perkins, who actually committed over the weekend, made his decision public moments ago during a ceremony inside the library at Washington High (South Bend, Ind.).

The 6-foot-2, 220-Perkins is the 10th member of Notre Dame's 2012 class after choosing the Irish over Syracuse, Tennessee, Michigan State and Mississippi State.

"I would say he'll go there and be a rush-backer," Washington High coach Antwon Jones said. "He's a natural pass rusher, in my opinion, and he can bend the edge. With that type of speed and the size he does have, it's a dangerous combination."

Perkins is the 27th-rated linebacker in the class and is coming off a junior season in which he made 63 tackles and registered 13 sacks. He also carried 85 times for 783 yards and had 10 receptions for 180 yards while combining for six touchdowns.'s Allen Trieu is at Perkins' announcement and will have complete coverage throughout the day, including full reaction from Perkins, a scouting report from's Dave Berk and reaction from Jones.
