Perkins, who actually committed over the weekend, made his decision public moments ago during a ceremony inside the library at Washington High (South Bend, Ind.).
"I would say he'll go there and be a rush-backer," Washington High coach Antwon Jones said. "He's a natural pass rusher, in my opinion, and he can bend the edge. With that type of speed and the size he does have, it's a dangerous combination."
Perkins is the 27th-rated linebacker in the class and is coming off a junior season in which he made 63 tackles and registered 13 sacks. He also carried 85 times for 783 yards and had 10 receptions for 180 yards while combining for six touchdowns.
Scout.com's Allen Trieu is at Perkins' announcement and IrishEyes.com will have complete coverage throughout the day, including full reaction from Perkins, a scouting report from Scout.com's Dave Berk and reaction from Jones.
