Steven Elmer earned an offer from Notre Dame on Thursday. However, after he and his family left campus for a short time they returned to take a more in depth look at campus. It was his time after camp that may have left a lasting impression.
of Midland (MI) High School knew Notre Dame
had interest in him as a football player. However, it was following his Thursday camp visit that he learned just how much interest they had in him but giving him a verbal scholarship offer.
"Notre Dame had kind of hinted they were going to offer me. However, I wanted to go there for camp and do my best."
The Class of 2013 offensive lineman had already picked up offers from Wisconsin, Michigan and Michigan State. However, an offer from Notre Dame holds some special meaning.
"We are a Catholic family and have followed Notre Dame Football over the years."
While the football side was impressive, it was the small things that make Notre Dame special that stand out from his visit.
"I loved looking at some of the old buildings. It was my first in depth tour looking at the major landmarks like the Basilica and Grotto. Not one thing stands out, everything stands out."
As for the offer, Steven knows it is early in the process and is in no hurry to rush.
