Dwayne Hendricks had a good junior season recording 65 tackles and 3 sacks as a defensive end. He also played offensive line but is being recruited as a defensive end. "I have offers from Iowa, Boston College, Virginia, Michigan, Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Temple, Rutgers, Vanderbilt and Maryland right now," said Hendricks.
Hendricks said he recently spoke with coach Tyrone Willingham. "I just spoke with Coach Willingham on the phone before their spring game. I am going to go to Notre Dame camp for a day or two and he said he was looking forward to meeting me. They have been in touch with my coaches a lot. My coach sent out tape and told the college coaches that were interested to contact him. Notre Dame has talked to him a number of times."
Hendricks has a list of some of his top schools. "Out of the schools that have offered me, I like Michigan, Iowa and Virginia the most. Out of the schools that haven't offerd, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Florida and Florida State interest me."
The star defensive end is also qualified. "I have a core GPA of 3.1 and I took the SAT as a sophomore and scored a 900."
Academics will also be important to Hendricks. "Academics will be one of the most important things. I want to be able to get a good job after I graduate. I looking for a school with a good alumni base so I can get a job when I graduate. My brother went to Temple so he is kind of guiding me."
Hendricks says he is planning on going to a one-day camp at Georgia Tech as well as Notre Dame. He said he has no idea when he will make a decision but did say he will take some visits before deciding.
Comments. An interesting prospect. A lot of teams see something special in this player. Notre Dame seems very interested as well. If he makes it to camp it will be interesting to see if the Irish offer right after. I will keep an eye on him as well.
