Daniels, a four-star prospect and ranked as Scout.com's No. 11 safety in the 2012 class, gets his fill on the Irish from coach Steve Belles, a backup quarterback on Notre Dame's 1988 national championship team.
"My coach went there and he talks about the school, and it sounds pretty interesting," Daniels said.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound safety said he communicates regularly with the Irish staff, but his knowledge of the program is rudimentary.
"They're a real big football school," Daniels said. "Everything around there is football, and they have a really good football team, and high academics, and that it's a nice area around (the campus)."
"I don't have a leader right now," Daniels said. "Distance doesn't really matter. It's where I'm comfortable."
As a junior, Daniels made 46 tackles and had three interceptions. He also runs a sub-11.0 in the 100 meters.
However, he said he hasn't contemplated how the Irish would use him in their defense.
"I haven't looked at it that far yet, but I will," Daniels said. "I've seen their games (on t.v.) and seen them play USC."
Daniels didn't make any summer visits, and there is uncertainty about official visits as well. "I really haven't planned any visits yet," he said. "I don't know what schools I'm going to go see."
He plans on making a decision after the season.
