Kimbrough Impressed with Irish

With teammate Sheldon Day grabbing the headlines, junior linebacker Tim Kimbrough is getting some up close looks at college programs from across the country. Irish Eyes spoke with the Indianapolis native about his recent visit to Notre Dame.

Wednesday found class of 2013 linebacker Tim Kimbrough on the highway heading to another unofficial college visit with teammate Sheldon Day. One school the 6-foot-1, 215-pound product of Indianapolis (IN) Warren Central has already visited is Notre Dame.

What did he think about the Irish?

"I really liked the coaching staff and the football tradition at Notre Dame," Kimbrough said. "Their tradition really stood out along with how they play the game."

During his visit, Kimbrough had a chance to speak with his main recruiter Mike Elston. How did his visit go with the Irish defensive line coach?

"Coach Elston said I would be a good player to get if I get to go there," Kimbrough said. "Notre Dame is looking at me as an outside linebacker."

While his visit was exciting, the hope is for a visit this fall for a game.

"I'm hopeful to get up there for a game this season to see what it is like," he said.

With teammates ahead of him earning scholarship offers, Kimbrough uses their success for his own motivation.

"Watching guys like Sheldon makes me even more motivated to play hard so I can also get offers like he's gotten," he said.

Expectations are high for Warren Central this fall and Kimbrough knows he's got parts of his game that are stronger than others.

"The strength of my game is my play making abilities as I know how to get to the ball," Kimbrough said. "I've got good instincts but know I need to work on my speed and strength. I'm really looking forward to this season to show my improvements."

What are the things he's looking for in a college program?

"Education and tradition are very important to me," he said. "The school must have a good history and be a hard working and hitting team."
