Patterson suffered an injury last year and missed quite a few games but he was able to grabbed two interceptiosn and make 48 tackles in his limited playing time.
The star defensive back is set academically with a 4.3 G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale. He took the ACT last year and scored a 25. "I wasn't happy with that score so I took it again a week or two ago and I just took the SAT on Saturday."
Patterson also said he knows what will be important to him when making his decision. "The education will be important. I want to go to a nice environment and feel comfortable with everything. The athletics will also be important and I don't want to go too far from home so my parents can see me play. I did talk to them after UCLA called and they said they didn't mind if I went far from home and they would make it out to watch my games."
The summer will be a busy time for Patterson and he has made plans to attend a lot of camps. "I am going to a 1-day combine at the Tennessee Titans complex. I am also going to the Nike Camp at Auburn. We have a team camp at Missouri and I am scheduled to attend the senior camp at Ohio State."
Missouri and Vanderbilt have offered Patterson a scholarship and more should be on the way.
Right now, Patterson lists UCLA, Notre Dame, Auburn, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas and Vanderbilt as his top schools but said he is open to anyone who wants to recruit him.
Notre Dame interests Patterson quite a bit. "I have a lot of interest in Notre Dame. I've liked them since the seventh grade. My Mom likes them a whole lot and I like them too. The academics are outstanding, the tradition is great and it's not far away from home so my family can watch me play."
Comments. Nick is a great kid and it doesn't surprise me that Notre Dame called as soon as they could. He is very interested in the Irish and if they offer, I think Notre Dame will be in this race until the end. We will keep on eye on Patterson and see what happens in May. Perfect fit for Notre Dame.
