Walker has 11 Offers

Waco, TX is home to one of the top cornerback prospects in the state of Texas--maybe the entire country. Marcus Walker has 11 offers so far from some of the top programs in the country and many more are likely on the way.

Marcus Walker is 5-11, 183 pounds. He attended the Nike Camp and ran a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash. Not many schools tested Walker last year. "They didn't throw to my side," said Walker. "I didn't have any interceptions and I am not sure how many tackles I had. Not much action came my way last year."

Despite the limited action, many schools have seen enough of Walker to offer him. "I have offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, BYU, Oklahoma, Florida State, Nebraska, Kansas and Purdue so far. Everybody that has offered me has called so far except Texas Tech."

The Florida State offer made Walker a happy guy. "I grew up cheering for Florida State. I was excited about that."

Walker is also qualified with a 3.2 core GPA and he scored an 860 on his SAT.

The star cornerback has a plan for recruiting. "I plan to take all my visits. I am going to camp at Texas A&M and I might camp at Texas. I don't have a list of top schools yet. I am just going to wait and see what my options are before I start narrowing it down. I don't mind leaving the state of Texas to go to school. I will go to the school I feel the most comfortable with. Where I fit in the best. I also want to play early."

Notre Dame has been recruiting Walker heavily. "They are recruiting me and sending a lot of letters. They haven't called and they haven't been to a practice yet but they are recruiting me hard. Notre Dame is Notre Dame. They have one of the best traditions in football. I like everything about Notre Dame."

Comments. I would say Florida State will be the team to beat. Walker doesn't seem to mind leaving Texas at all. He doesn't plan to camp at Notre Dame. To have any shot, I think they will have to get him to visit early. He does seem very interested in Notre Dame but I think Florida State will be the team to beat.
