Texas Right Tackle Lands Irish Offer

Celina (Texas) High offensive lineman Jake Raulerson spoke with a member of the Notre Dame staff for the first time Tuesday, and it is something he will remember. The class of 2013 standout, who has nearly two dozen offers, picked up one for the Irish, and then spoke with IrishEyes.com about it.

Jake Raulerson's first conversation with a member of Notre Dame's coaching staff went well. ...It included a verbal offer.

The right tackle from Celina (Texas) High added to his already extensive list of offers during his 20-minute chat with Irish assistant coach Kerry Cooks.

"It was kind of an unexpected thing because I haven't had much contact with the coaches," Raulerson said. "I was talking to coach Cooks, and he said when they can put it in writing, I will have an offer."

Notre Dame joined more than a dozen other schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Navy, Oklahoma and Texas A&M as schools to already extend offers.

But Raulerson isn't exactly versed in the Irish.

"I'm not too familiar with them but I watched them a bit on television like any fan," he said. "They're a very well-known college football team, but but I don't know much about the school."

And while the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Raulerson isn't new to getting offers, it still creates a thrill.

"It's always exciting to get an offer from a school and to see what that school has to offer," he said. "I want to see as many schools as I can before I make a decision and see where I want to go.

"I'm focused on the high school season and trying to win a state championship here, but I ‘m going to find the school that suits me best."

As for favorite schools growing up, Raulerson didn't hesitate.

"The Florida Gators," he said. "My dad was born in Florids and my grandparents go to the games."
