Douglas Ready for Irish Experience

Ohio 2013 defensive back Ross Douglas is ready to make his first trip to Notre Dame and spoke with about his upcoming visit.

While Notre Dame continues to build on the class of 2012, they are also looking to get off on solid footing with several members of the class of 2013. One of those prospects is Avon (Ohio) defensive back Ross Douglas.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Douglas has never visited Notre Dame, but he's looking forward to the overall experience.

"Yes, I'm excited about going up to Notre Dame," said Douglas. "It's the first time I've ever been to a Notre Dame game. Defensive back coach (Chuck) Martin sent me a message on Facebook and I just spoke with him yesterday. He said they were excited about me coming up and everything."

While it's early, how much interest does Douglas have in the Irish?

"I have a lot of interest in Notre Dame," said Douglas. "The interest is there; I just don't know too much about them and look forward to learning more. My father and I are looking to get up there early on Saturday to get the full experience."

Saturday's game will also give Douglas a chance to check out two of his top teams.

I like Michigan State a lot," said Douglas. But I also like Notre Dame a lot and look forward to seeing these two teams play."

Already with offers from Minnesota, Tennessee and Connecticut, Douglas knows what he's looking for in a college.

"I'm looking for a school that will continue the values that I've been raised and have lived with the first sixteen years of my life," said Douglas. "The college I choose will basically be an extended home for me."

At Avon High School, Douglas is used as a running back and defensive back. Does he prefer one over the other?

"It doesn't matter to me," said Douglas. "All I'm concerned about is if I can help the team win. If I have a choice, I'd prefer defense."

With the early start to the recruiting process, Douglas is hoping to also make an early decision.

"I'd like to have something done before my senior year," said Douglas. "However, I'm not even thinking about all of it right now as it's all about my teammates now. I don't want this to create any distractions away from my team and what we're trying to accomplish."

So how has the season been going so far?

"It's very busy right now," said Douglas. "Things are going good right now as we're off to a 3-0 start and I feel I've been playing pretty good." will check back with Douglas to learn how his Notre Dame experience went Saturday. Top Stories
