Midwest Tailback Likes Irish

This fine back was named all-state the past two seasons. He talks about his scholarship offers, current favorites and summer plans.

Jason Scales, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound, running back from West Des Moines (Iowa) Valley is considered one of the top prospects in the Midwest.

Scales rushed for 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns as a sophomore and in 2002 he rushed for 2,642 yards and 31 touchdowns.

Does Scales have any offers yet?

"I have offers from Iowa and Iowa State," said Scales. "I have another offer that I don't want to disclose at this time.

"My favorites are Colorado, Stanford, Iowa, Iowa State, Notre Dame, Kansas and Tennessee.

"I don't have any plans to make an early commitment. I'm going to take my time and make a decision after my senior season.

"I wouldn't say I have a leader right now. I'm completely open."

Scales was named all-state after both his sophomore and junior seasons. Iowa State will get a camp visit from Jason this summer.

Scales also letters in track.
