McClure Nearing Decision

Coach Mike Brey already has his first commitment of the season in Rob Kurz. Another player the Irish are heavily recruiting is David McClure. McClure has already visited Notre Dame and Duke and plans to make a decision very soon.

David McClure is 6-6, 205 pounds and averages about 18 points a game. He hails from Stamford, CT--Trinity Catholic high school. McClure has already made two of his official visit to Notre Dame and Duke. "It's getting down to decision time," said McClure. "Notre Dame, Duke, North Carolina State, Florida State, Villanova and Indiana are the schools I am still considering."

Many speculate that this decision will come down to Notre Dame and Duke. "I loved them both. I loved hanging out with the guys at Notre Dame and I like coach Brey. I also loved Duke. Getting to meet all the players and the coaches. It's going to be a hard decision."

When can we expect a decision? "Within two or three weeks," said McClure. "I am making an early decision and I want to get it out of the way within the month. It's going to be a hard decision. Notre Dame and Duke are the front-runners at this point. I'm not sure if I will make any more visits. My time is really limited. I am playing in AAU and that takes up a lot of time. I will sit down with my family and weigh my options. Once I know, I will let everyone know of my decision."

McClure says it's very close between the two schools. "I honestly can't say. One day I think one thing and then next I think another. I can't go wrong with either choice. I will try to figure it out and make my decision sometime this month before school is out. I've said that before but I think I will have it done soon." Top Stories
