Hinds Camping at Notre Dame

Rocky Hinds is considered one of the top quarterback prospects on the west coast and maybe even the country. The 6-4, 210-pound Hinds ran a 4.47 40 time at the Nike Camp and has a personal best of 10.47 in the 100 meters. Hinds has nine offers so far and plans to attend Notre Dame's camp this summer.

Rocky Hinds had a solid junior season. The threw for 1600 yards and 15 touchdowns and also rushed for about 600 yards and 5 touchdowns. His numbers as well as his speed has convinced quite a few schools to offer Hinds. "Right now I have nine offers," said Hinds. "USC, UCLA, Oregon, Oregon State, California, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah and West Virginia have offered me. I have had a lot of calls too. Pretty much everyone who has offered me."

Hinds also plans to attend Notre Dame's camp in June and the Washington camp.

"I just want a chance to play," said Hinds on what is important to him. "I will look at the depth chart and see if there is a good opportunity for me to play. Education will also be very important. Also, I want to go to a school with a good tradition."

Hinds grew up a big USC fan. "I cheered for USC. They are just down the street so I've always followed them. They are high on my list. Their signing of John David Booty won't impact my decision."

The Irish are another school on Hinds' mind. "I like coach Willingham a lot. I like what he has done there. Their academics and tradition are impressive. Freddie Parish has told me a lot about the place and it sounds like something I would be interested in."

Hinds said distance will not be a problem for him. "No, not at all," said Hines "U will go where ever I feel the most comfortable. Distance isn't a problem."

Does Hinds have a top five? "USC, UCLA, Notre Dame and Washington are my top four right now. I am interested in other schools but those are my top schools right now."

Comments. He is coming to camp so that is a good sign. USC will be tough to beat but their signing of Booty will not help their case. Hinds told me it doesn't matter to him but I'm going to guess it will in the end. He wants to play quarterback and only quarterback. I have no idea if Notre Dame will offer but he is a real nice guy and would fit in well.
