However, there were a few things the class of 2013 quarterback separated from everything else.
"I would say overall the atmosphere and everything at Notre Dame is about academics and a hard-working program, and there are a lot of great students and people at Notre Dame," the 6-foot-5, 190-pound Kempt said. "I had an idea about what Notre Dame was about, but it re-enforced it."
But has there been conversation about an offer?
"They haven't talked anything about that," Kempt said. "They're going to follow up talking, so maybe something will happen and maybe it won't. We'll see."
The unofficial visit stood out to Kempt, and it started early because he had an meeting set up for a winter combine event early in the morning.
"Then we checked in and talked to the coaches, and then ate and did a campus tour and experienced the Notre Dame Walk," Kempt said. "Then, we went in and got a presentation from coach (Brian) Kelly and a couple of other coaches, and then went to field and went up to our seats."
Kempt said one of the messages delivered by the staff was the prospects at the game were high on Notre Dame's radar because not every recruit who wanted tickets got them.
"A lot of people requested to come and they picked top seniors and top junior to come there," Kempt said. "That is something that was special."
