Heygood Loved Visit to Notre Dame

Anthong Heygood plays his football at Cardinal O'Hara high school in Springfield, PA. The 6-1, 210-pound prospect rushed for almost 900 yards and 12 touchdowns last year while missing three games due to injury. Heygood has five offers so far and the Irish appear very interested in this top prospect.

Anthony Heygood recently returned from junior day at Notre Dame. "I loved it," said Heygood of his visit. "Their Tradition, the stadium, the coaches, the campus, I liked everything about it. I want to go to a game there next year and see what it's like with the students there."

Notre Dame has a strong interest in Heygood at this point. "Coach Willingham called me and talked to me and I got to speak to him quite a bit when I went out there. They said they were going to recruit me heavily. They liked my size and said I had the frame to be a 6-1, 230-pound tailback and they wanted to find a guy like that. They really liked my frame and how I run."

Heygood's Mom also loved the visit to Notre Dame. "She loves it there too. She liked the school and the academics and the religious part of it more than the football. She loves it there."

Other schools have taken a strong interest in Heygood as well. "I have offers from West Virginia, Boston College, Syracuse, Purdue and Wisconsin right now. Penn State, Michigan State, Virginia, Nebraska and Tennessee also called me besides Notre Dame."

Heygood said he plans to camp at Penn State this year. "It's close so I will probably go there." He also said he will probably take a visit to Boston College some time this summer.

He wants to major in mechanical engineering in college and wants to find a school with a good program in that area.

So which teams are his top schools? "Notre Dame, Boston College, Maryland, Wisconsin and Michigan right now. I will probably take all five of my visits so I have time to look at all the schools."

Comments An interesting prospect. Willingham certainly used some big backs while at Stanford. Notre Dame seems very interested. Willingham doesn't pick up the phone often so I would guess this is a top guy.
