IE Take: Ronnie Stanley

Ronnie Stanley became the 16th member of Notre Dame's recruiting class for 2012 on Thursday afternoon. We offer our initial review inside.

Notre Dame was in an extremely good position in its recruitment of Ronnie Stanley following his official visit to South Bend last week for the team awards show. The Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman star stands a reported 6-foot-6, 285-pounds, and is a player Irish fans should be very excited about over the next four to five years.

What To Like

The first thing Irish fans should be extremely excited about is the fact Stanley comes from one of the top programs out west. Bishop Gorman has produced several talented players who have taken their talents to several Pac-12 programs. Can the Irish start a pipeline? Only time will tell, however, Stanley told Irish Eyes following his pledge he hopes others follow his path to South Bend.

What May Concern You

The thing that always comes up in dealing with kids from a great distance is if they start to worry about being away from home. Stanley did a solid job in looking at his choices before pulling the trigger and from our conversations with him seems sold on all the right things about Notre Dame. Stanley is sure to continue to hear from programs until signing day arrives, but right now we do not see any reason to worry.

Bottom Line

Stanley has the frame the Irish coaching staff is looking for along the offensive line. Great frame that can add weight without losing flexibility or athletic ability, Stanley can be looked at as either a guard or tackle in the Irish system.

Built with wide shoulders, Stanley does a great job of getting his shoulders squared and using his long arms to keep defensive linemen off his body. These skills are needed at the next level and should help Stanley excel at Notre Dame. Top Stories
