Council Hoping for Irish Offer

Rod Council hails from Charlotte, NC--West Charlotte high school. The 5-11, 175-pound corner prospect has four offers so far and hopes to receive an offer from Notre Dame.

Rod Council can't remember how many tackles he had as a junior but he does remember that he had eight interceptions and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns.

Council has a few offers so far. "Duke, Clemson, Michigan and Navy have offered me," said Council. "I also received a lot of calls in May. Schools from all over called."

Notre Dame also called. "Coach Willingham called me but I wasn't home. I called him back and left a message but they can't call now. My coach has said they are very interested in me."

Council is also very interested in Notre Dame. "I'm definitely interested in Notre Dame. My coach and I talk about them all the time and that I neeed to look into them. I like their tradition and their academics."

Academics are important to Council and he has a 4.12 in his core g.p.a. and scored a 960 on his S.A.T. "I'm going to take that again. I can score better than that." He also plans to major in engineering in college.

Summer will be busy for Council. He plans to attend some camps that are local. "I am going this Saturday to Clemson for a one-day camp. I am also going to go to Wake Forrest for a one-day camp and might look into North Carolina and North Carolina State."

The top schools? "I would say North Carolina State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State."

Comments. I have heard that Council had been offered by Notre Dame. He hasn't yet but Willingham doesn't call just anyone. An offer may be on the way soon.
