HT – WT – SPEED : Listed at 6-foot-3, 180-pounds makes Deontay Greenberry a very dangerous weapon on the field. Add in his speed and Brian Kelly is bringing in a big-time playmaker to South Bend for the Irish.
QUICKNESS – AGILITY – BALANCE : On film Greenberry excels in all three areas showing great body control and the ability to make big plays on the ground or in the air.
BODY FLEXIBILITY : Irish fans loved what Michael Floyd brought to the field as a wide receiver. However, Greenberrry has the physical abilities to be even better as he shows more flexibility from a football positioning standpoint.
STRENGTH : Keep in mind we're not looking for brute strength. Nevertheless, Greeneberry will report to Notre Dame with above average recoil in his upper and lower body along with physical strength for a skill position player.
DURABILITY : Greenberry has shown no reasons to have concern here as he's a physical player who has the makeup to play tough.
PRODUCTION : Two-way prospect who would be considered at the top of his class on either side of the ball. However, this is also where Greenberry shows his greatest weakness as he's shown the willingness to take plays off. This is often the case in high school players and is usually quickly fixed once they get on the practice field with players of equal ability. Once Greenberry makes up his mind to give 100% on every down, look out because he'll soon be taking his game to the next level.
ON THE FIELD
Look for the Irish staff to fight over Greenberry as the defense would love to have him and the offense knows he can be a major part of the offense early. The ability to go up over smaller corners and safeties gives Kelly a big target in the red zone. While Greenberry has speed, he's not a burner who is only going to beat you with it. His game is playing physical and taking the ball away from pesky defensive backs. He's also willing to play in high traffic and take a hit.
Over the past year no player has done more to raise their stock than Greenberry. He attended every camp and combines looking to be the best and proved to the country he was one of the best prospects in the country. In the end his summer success wore on into his senior season as he helped his team win a state championship. Why was there so much talk about other programs during the past few months? Because college programs know he's a game changer.
