Berk's Breakdown: Aaron Bailey

IrishEyes.com recruiting analyst Dave Berk looks at offered quarterback prospect Aaron Bailey of Bolingbrook, Illinois.

Prospect: Aaron Bailey
Position: Quarterback
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2 | 225-pounds
High School: Bolingbrook (IL) HS

Offers To Date: Notre Dame, Boston College, Colorado State, Illinois, Minnesota, Mississippi, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State.

Strengths

The first thing that stands out watching film of Bailey is his physical size and style of play at the quarterback position. At 6-foot-2, 225-pounds, Bailey has a long solid frame and could take the pounding required if Notre Dame goes more to a spread running signal caller.

Weakness

While his ability to tuck and run out of the option makes his a major offensive weapon. On film we see a quarterback still in development throwing the football. Some are minor mechanics needing adjustment while others make you want to see more of him throwing the football to get a true feeling for overall arm strength and the velocity and spin he places on the football.

Overall

It's easy to see why several programs have expressed early interest as Bailey is one of the top athletes in the Midwest for the 2013 class. With a reported 4.5 forty-time, Bailey is a bigger version of another player the Irish had offered (Jalin Marshall) who is expected to make a position move in college.

Because of his physical size programs will be more willing to give Bailey time to adjust at the next level before making any position move.

Early Thoughts

At this time Bailey's father is listing Northwestern, Ohio State, Boston College and Iowa as his son's top four programs. While there is still time for Bailey to show more interest in the Irish, there is also the chance the quarterback spot could be filled in the 2013 class within the next 30-45 days.

Getting Bailey on campus for a visit will be key for the Irish to have a chance to land in the signal callers top programs.
