The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Drennon, who holds more than two dozen offers, picked one up from Notre Dame, and immediately began making plans for a visit.
"The offer from Notre Dame means a lot," he said. "I know that they are a prestigious football university and they are great when it comes to working with the defensive line."
The news of the Notre Dame offered comes a week after Alabama offered, and it was met with a similar bit of excitement and awe that has Drennon planning a spring visit.
"I talked to me dad about the offer and we decided that's definitely a school we will be making a trip to," Drennon said. "I'm really looking forward to building a relationship with the coaches and learning more about what the school itself has to offer me."
He doesn't plan on making a decision until after his senior season but when he begins to trim his list, it won't be a football-only decision. He also does plenty of research on schools after they offer.
"I try to go off whatever I know (about a school) at first, and then whatever questions I have about the school, like how good they are in my major, I look that up," Drennon said. "That's how I base how I look at the schools.
"I'm thinking of majoring in either marketing or engineering. Academics are No. 1. It's good winning football games and everything, but it doesn't mean anything if you can't graduate."
