Berk's Breakdown: Ty Isaac

If there is one player Notre Dame fans should be excited about in the Class of 2013 its running back Ty Isaac. Here is a quick breakdown of the Joliet, Illinois product.

High School: Joliet (IL) Catholic

Tall running back that glides when he runs reminding me of former Minnesota Viking running back Robert Smith. With his ability to change direction and speed, Isaac has the tools to break off big plays at any time. Add in his ability to come out of the backfield and catch a pass or lineup as a receiver and Isaac gives a team a player capable of doing multiple things without coming off the field.

Because of his physical size you would think Isaac would have the ability to be a solid blocker. However, because of his use as a playmaker, Isaac will have to work on this area of his game more than any other part. In the Irish offense he'll be asked to be solid in blitz pick-up to protect the quarterback.

Isaac is one of the top backs in the country with his combination of size and speed. He would be a perfect fit in the Irish offense with his ability to catch the football.

Early Thoughts

With the Irish recruiting on a national scale it is great to see one of the top offensive players so close to campus. The Irish however will be in a battle for Isaac as all the top programs in the country are in pursuit.

The Irish expect to get another chance to show what they have to offer when Isaac visits campus on March 3rd. However, don't expect anything to break soon with Isaac as he's still in the early phase of his decision making. Top Stories
