Berk's Breakdown: Tim Boyle recruiting analyst Dave Berk has looked at several quarterbacks in the 2013 class holding offers from the Irish. Now we look at Tim Boyle who could find an offer before the month is over

Prospect: Tim Boyle
Position: Quarterback
Height/Weight: 6-foot-4 | 200-pounds
High School: Middletown (CT) Xavier HS

Offers To Date: Connecticut, Syracuse, Boston College.

Tall quarterback prospect that already shows the ability to play in the spread attack the Irish run under Brian Kelly. Above average arm strength with quick release.

While Boyle shows the ability to run the football, he does not show breakaway speed some of the other offered quarterbacks have shown. Nevertheless, he is quick enough and athletic enough to pick up five to seven yards when needed and to keep opposing defenses on their toes.

I really like the film we had available on Boyle as it shows all the skill set Brian Kelly looks for in a quarterback for his offensive attack. You have to wonder about level of competition, however, you cannot take away the quick release and ability to hit a receiver in stride.

Early Thoughts

It will be interesting to see if Boyle makes a trip to South Bend later this month to meet with Kelly and his staff.

I'm sure the Irish staff would like to size him up and pick his brain as to the knowledge level he already has running the spread attack.

If the meeting goes well I would not be surprised if an offer is extended as Boyle reminds me of a little more athletic Tony Pike at this stage of his development.

However, it may also be too late as the Irish could have their quarterback in the class before the month is over. Top Stories
