The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Beisel said his contact with the Irish staff has been sporadic.
"I'm definitely interested, but I haven't talked to them that much," Beisel said. "I was on the phone with one of the coaches and they said they definitely want a big linebacker like me. They said they wanted to offer me, but they haven't.
"They might just be waiting for me to get on campus. I have no idea."
"At this point I'm kind off just checking (Notre Dame) out," Beisel said. "It's nothing too serious. They said they were thinking about offering me."
Beisel is using the visit as a fact-find mission because he doesn't know much about the Irish. "I know they have a lot of tradition, but that's about it," he said. "I know a lot about Manti Te'o. He's one of the big linebackers I like to watch."
Although Beisel holds an offer from in-state Missouri, he said distance won't be a factor in his decision.
"It really doesn't influence me one way or the other," he said. "Everything is open at this point. I'm definitely looking for a family aspect, definitely a school that can develop me. I'm definitely looking at winning and competing."
