Bivin Updates Status

The past month has been magical for Hunter Bivin as his high school basketball team enjoyed a dream run in the Kentucky state basketball championships. Despite a loss in Wednesday night's game, Biven was upbeat and ready to update his recruiting interest.

Thursday afternoon may have been the real start of March Madness, but in the state of Kentucky, where basketball is king, one of the Commonwealth's top football prospects was ready to talk football recruiting.

Apollo High (Owensboro, Ky.) offensive tackle Hunter Bivin is one of Notre Dame's top targets.

"I'm at Rupp Arena right now at the state tournament," said Bivin. "We played in the state tournament last night and got beat. But we're still here watching a couple of more games at Rupp right now."

The success of Bivin's hoop season slowed down his ability to visit Notre Dame a few weeks ago. Nevertheless, Bivin would not trade the experience.

There are sixteen teams who beat everybody and make it to state," explained Bivin. So making it here is pretty sweet."

While Bivin was enjoying his time on his home state's cherished hardwood, his mind was already working on his gridiron future in naming seven early favorites.

"I'm not saying I'm ruling anybody out," stressed Bivin. "But as of right now, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Auburn, Kentucky and Vanderbilt are my seven favorites."

With his hoop season now completed, when will Bivin look to visit South Bend?

"I'm hoping to visit Notre Dame on (March) 24," Bivin said. "If that doesn't work out I'll try and get there as soon as possible as I really want to get up there and meet (assistant) coach (Harry) Hiestand."
