A Notre Dame scholarship offer is like gold in 2003. The Irish coaching staff haven't offered very many prospects during this spring and summer.
Hamilton, Ohio cornerback Brandon Underwood left Notre Dame's camp last week and returned home and found a scholarship offer in his mailbox.
"Notre Dame said they were offering a scholarship but I needed to get a couple points higher on my ACT." Underwood said.
"I was told I couldn't be offered at the (Notre Dame) camp but I would receive a letter in the mail with an offer. The letter beat us home.
"I have offers now from Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Penn State, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Arizona State, Iowa State, Colorado and Ball State. Colorado just needs my transcript before everything could be official.
"My favorites right now are Notre Dame, Iowa, Illinois, Arizona State and Penn State. I don't have a leader.
"I camped at Indiana, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Iowa this summer. I'm camping at Ohio State next week and I'm done after that camp."
Underwood had 50 tackles and three interceptions as a junior and was named all-conference.
