Quick Hitter: DT Bostwick Update

St. Lucie West Centennial (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) four-star defensive tackle Jaynard Bostwick picked up a Notre Dame offer in the winter, and he updated IrishEyes.com on his recruitment and Notre Dame's interest level.

Four-star defensive tackle Jaynard Bostwick of St. Lucie West Centennial (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) was planning an official visit to Notre Dame, but that is now on hold.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Bostwick, who was offered by the Irish in the winter, said his contact with assistant coach Tony Alford has slowed markedly.

"I'm not really hearing from them a lot," he said. "I haven't really gotten a lot of letters or messages from them lately."

Bostwick, who is the seventh-rated defensive tackle in the 2013 class, spent the weekend at South Carolina's spring game, and is hearing from some of the top programs in the nation.

"It was good," he said of the South Carolina visit. "I went around campus and they showed me all the locker rooms there and the facilities and the classrooms."

However, Bostwick isn't thinking about an early decision.

"I'm pretty open" he said. "Wisconsin, Miami, Florida, Oregon …those are the most constant schools to be in contact with me."

If the Irish would rekindle their interest, what would Bostwick do?

"I'd listen to them," he said. "I was planning on using one of my official visits to go up there."

Bostwick doesn't plan on deciding until after the season.
