Richard Hoping For Irish Offer

Destrehan, LA is home to one of the best defensive linemen in the country. Darryl Richard is 6-4, 285 and consistently runs in the 4.9 range. Richard is also an outstanding student an is very interested in Notre Dame.

Darryl Richard had a solid junior season recording 79 tackles, 54 unassisted and 11 sacks. He also has quite a few offers already. "Stanford, LSU, Tulane, Colorado, Indiana, Vanderbilt have offered me. Georgia Tech says they are close to offering me."

Notre Dame is one offer he is waiting for. "That is one offer I'm really waiting for. I spoke to Buzz Preston and I really liked what he had to say. I sure hope they offer."

Richard says he is impressed with what a Notre Dame degree would mean for him. "I'm extremely interested in Notre Dame. The respect people have for a Notre Dame degree is what I like most about it. Also, I like the history of their program. They have great tradition there."

Richard is an outstanding student as well. "I have a 4.63 core on a 4.0 scale. I took the ACT and scored a 29 on it."

Distance won't be a problem for Richard but don't expect a decision any time soon. "I plan to have it down to five by September. I want to go see the schools I'm interested in. See the facilities and get a real good idea of everything before I make a decision. I plan to take all five of my visits."

Comments. If the Irish offer, expect them to move to the very top for Richard. He seems very impressed with Notre Dame and education is very important to him. I think the Irish like him quite a bit as well and an offer could come soon for him.
