Ball Hears Back From Irish

In the middle of the month Marcus Ball took a visit to Notre Dame with hope of learning more about the Irish and earning an offer from the storied program. On Tuesday, Ball received word on the direction the Irish were taking with him.

Notre Dame has been hot on the trail of Westerville (OH) South athlete Marcus Ball and on Tuesday he received word on the direction the Irish were going with his recruitment.

"Notre Dame just offered today," said Ball. "To get an offer like that means a lot. Only 8,000 people go to the school so to get an offer like that is a great honor."

Giving Ball the good news was recruiting Coach Mike Elston.

I've been talking with Coach Elston for a while now and he's been recruiting me hard," said Ball. "They watched my film yesterday and told me they would have some better news the next day. Today was the day and they finally offered me as Coach (Brian) Kelly looked at the tape and loved it, the whole defensive staff loved it and so they finally offered me today."

Has Ball had a chance to connect with the Irish head coach?

"I talked with Coach Kelly when I went up on my unofficial visit but not today," explained Ball. "Coach Elston called Coach Kelly and he told him to call me back and go ahead and offer. As soon as that happened we're all good."

What will Ball do now that the Irish have offered?

"With that offer I definitely don't want to make a decision too fast," said Ball. "Coach Elston and I spoke about getting my family up there and getting a look at Notre Dame. So I definitely want to get up to Notre Dame and see if my family is comfortable with it and make a family decision.

"But ultimately it comes down to me and my decision. But I definitely want my family to see the place and feel the environment and that should happen in May or June. I don't want to make a decision too early, but depending upon how my family feels about it I want to get the ball rolling.
