How did the workout go for Hart?
"I spoke with Coach Elston over the phone on Tuesday night," said Hart. "My workout went great as he liked what he saw and how I moved. He even videotaped some of it as Coach (Brian) Kelly told him to come see me as he wanted him to see more of me and get his opinion. Coach Elston said there is a good chance for an offer there but it would be at the outside linebacker position."
While the possibility of earning an offer from the Irish for defense may have come as a surprise, Hart has no problem with it.
"It is something different as they are the only school to have done that," said Hart. "But I feel that says I'm athletic enough to do multiple things and if that is what's best for them I completely understand. Wherever I go I'm going to do my best so it doesn't really affect me at all."
One program the Irish may be getting into a recruiting battle with is Nebraska who recently offered Hart.
"I just got offered by them and have been in a lot of contact with Coach (Vince) Marrow and Coach (Bo) Pelini as well as Courtney Love who just committed there," said Hart. "I've been talking with those coaches a lot as they are all Ohio guys. Notre Dame hasn't offered yet and I feel very comfortable with Nebraska, Northwestern and Pittsburgh who have offered."
What would an offer from the Irish mean to Hart?
"Man that would really be a blessing and make it a very, very hard decision," said Hart. "So I would have to narrow it down and figure it out. I would take it as a school I have a great opportunity at and go see it just like I'm going to go see every other school.
How much of a factor does having one of his friends headed to the Irish play in his decision if the Irish offer?
"Even though Malik is one of my best friends and he's going there it still has to be comfortable for me," explained Hart. "I would have to go with my gut. I would go see Notre Dame and definitely take a visit, but at the end of the day it will be what is comfortable with me and what's best for me."
IrishEyes.com will have more on Hart if the Irish extend an offer in the coming weeks.
