Nicolas Enjoys Notre Dame Camp

Mater Dei high school in Santa Ana, CA has long sent top prospects to the best teams in the country. This year Brandon Nicolas will be the next in a long line. The 6-4, 260-pound defensive and offensive line prospect recently returned from Notre Dame camp and was very impressed with the Irish.

Brandon Nicolas just returned from Irish camp. "It was a really good camp. I only went for one day but we got to see a lot of the campus and worked out. I first worked with Coach Mattison on the defensive side of the ball. Then I worked with Coach Mac Donnell on the offensive side. We then did one-on-one drills. I think I did better on the defensive side of the ball. I spoke with Coach Willingham for quite a while. He's really a good guy and a good coach. My Mom loves the coaching staff and loved Notre Dame."

The Irish didn't offer Nicolas but one might be on the way soon. "They didn't offer. They told me that they would let me know by the end of summer. Coach Mattison told me that they are very interested in me and will recruit me very hard."

Nicolas isn't sure which position the Irish are recruiting him for. "I think they are recruiting me as a defensive tackle. They might be recruiting me as an offensive guard. I prefer to play defense and we talked mostly about defense at camp."

Nicolas also stopped by Ohio State. "They had already offered me so I didn't camp there. I was just checking out Ohio State. I liked it there too."

So far Nicolas has offers from Ohio State, Colorado, Nebraska, Utah, Arizona State, Arizona, Washington State, Cal and UCLA.

Nicolas says he hopes to make his decision sometime soon. "I would like to make my decision before the end of summer but I will have to see if the right schools offer. If not, I might take some visit."

comments. Nicolas really liked Notre Dame. I'm not sure if they want him at offesnive line or defensive line. He wants to play defense but I think if the Irish offer, they will have a great shot to land him. Top Stories
