Glasper is on the Rise

De La Salle High School in Concord California is one of the nations premier prep football schools. Year after year, they compete for the title, while sending numerous players to Division I universities. This year is no different. IrishEyes caught up with cornerback Willie Glasper who is being heavily recruited across the nation. Is Notre Dame among his suitors?

After an impressive junior season with 8 Interceptions (one returned for a TD), and 53 tackles, Willie Glasper went to Nike camp and put up some incredible numbers. The 5'11, 170lb corner ran an electronic 4.34 40 and a 3.83 shuttle. He also benched 285lbs, squatted 390, and measured his vertical jump at 35 inches.

With such impressive numbers at Nike camp, it's easy to believe the amount of attention Glasper has been getting lately. "I have offers from Washington, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Nebraska, and Utah" said Glasper. "I'm also being recruited by Miami, Florida State, Michigan, USC, UCLA, and LSU" he continued. That's a pretty impressive and long list of schools. Does he have a top five? "If I had to pick a top five, I would have to say Florida State, Cal, Oregon, Washington, and Miami with Florida State being my favorite because I've always been a Florida State fan."

Where is Notre Dame in the equation? Are they recruiting Glasper? "I get letters from Notre Dame, but I haven't gotten any phone calls yet. I guess they're recruiting me, but just not as hard as the other schools" said Glasper. So what if they start to recruit you harder? Would he be interested then? "Yeah I would be very interested if they recruited me harder. After all, it is Notre Dame."

Glasper admitted it's going to be hard to narrow down his list and pick a school. "I think I'm going to take my time. I have a top five right now, but I am still interested in all the schools that are recruiting me. I'm going to take all five of my visits, and decide after that. I'm looking for a school that can offer me early playing time. Distance won't be a factor at all."

Comments: It appears Notre Dame is slow playing Glasper. He boasts a 2.5 GPA, and hasn't taken the test yet. Maybe Ty and Co. are waiting to see how he does on the test. I think Glasper is waiting for Florida State to offer. If that happens, they'll be the team to beat. Top Stories
