Johnson Has Offer From Notre Dame

Sandy Creek high school in Tyrone, GA is home to Calvin Johnson. The 6-4, 205-pound wide receiver has some impressive offers including one from Notre Dame. Do the Irish have a shot at this hot prospect?

Calvin Johnson has an impressive list of offers. "I don't know how many I have. Around 20 I think. Georgia, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Stanford, Vanderbilt and Auburn are some of them."

The Georgia native has already been to camp at Georgia Tech. "I liked it. It was real nice and I liked the coaching staff there. I might attend one more camp but I'm not sure on where that will be yet."

Johnson wants to major in engineering in college. "I'm not sure if I want to major in mechanical or electrical yet but engineering is what I want to do."

Distance could be a problem for Johnson. "I would like to stay close to home so my family can see me play but if the best school is far away, I will go there. I haven't narrowed it down yet. I will probably take all my visits before I decide. My top schools would be those that have offered me so far."

Comments. Johnson didn't seem overly excited about any one program. I do think the distance will be an obstacle that the Irish staff will overcome. My gut says Georgia Tech is the team to beat but I think he will wait a while before he decides. Top Stories
