D.J. Davis is a jack of all trades. He plays quarterback and receiver and also plays defensive back for Dunbar high school. He has an impressive list of offers so far. "Wisconsin, A&M, LSU, Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Penn State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Arizona and Arkansas have offered me so far."
Davis will camp at Texas A&M this summer and has already visited A&M and LSU unofficially. "I liked both places. It was pretty cool."
Notre Dame has been in touch with Davis. "I talked to Coach Mattison. He is a great guy. It was very exciting to get an offer from Notre Dame. They are a big-time program and for them to show interest in me was exciting. I don't know much about Notre Dame. I'm going to call Coach Mattison on the phone and have him send me a book to find out more about them. I know about their tradition but I don't know much about the school. I know it's a great school but I don't know much else about it. I'm really interested to find out a lot more about Notre Dame."
Davis is also a pretty good student with a 2.9 in his core and he scored a 930 on his SAT. He said the atmosphere will be the most important thing. "Just the overall atmosphere. The coaches and the players and how they interact with each other. I just want to get a good feel for the overall feeling of the program."
Davis says he is wide open right now and not close to making a decision. "I like everyone right now. I'm interested in anyone who offers me. I know I will take all five of my visits so I will have plenty of time to narrow it down. I will try to find out as much as I can about each school and then narrow it down to a top five or so."
Comments. Davis seems wide open but did get excited when talking about Notre Dame. I think just the name gets him excited. He really doesn't know much about Notre Dame at this point and hopefully he will in the near future. I've heard he is one heck of an athlete and the Irish will be recruiting him heavily. We should get an idea soon of his level of interest in Notre Dame.
