Byrne Impressed By Irish

A two-day stop at Notre Dame gave Cleveland (OH) native Jimmy Byrne a chance to learn more about Notre Dame and his standing with the Irish.

Cleveland (OH) St. Ignatius offensive lineman Jimmy Byrne tripped at Notre Dame over the weekend and came away impressed by several things during his visit.

" I was up at Notre Dame on Friday and Saturday," said Byrne. "We had a brief tour on Friday and actually the class of 2013 was running their own camp, so I actually hopped in with that group and didn't do anything on Saturday morning."

One thing Byrne enjoyed during his time with the Irish was the chance to work with Irish offensive line coach Harry Hiestand.

"It was pretty cool working with coach Hiestand," said Byrne. "I was the only offensive lineman there so I got to work with coach Hiestand one-on-one which was phenomenal. To learn from a guy like that just one-on-one was great.

"We got a chance to look at campus the rest of the day and then on Saturday morning I watched some film with him and talk some recruiting and where I stand with Notre Dame.

"That is when they offered me."

With an early offer from Ohio State and the now the Irish, Byrne doesn't seem to be in a hurry.

"It's definitely a crazy time," said Byrne. "I'm just trying to keep my options open and hear what other schools have to say. I really like Notre Dame and was very impressed. However, I also like Michigan so it will be a hard decision. I will probably look to make my decision before my senior year."

Byrne will finish out his summer camp season this weekend at Ohio State before turning his attention to his high school team and the start of another season.
