Wide receiver prospect Doug Dutch has received an offer from Notre Dame. The Washington D.C. area prospect has over 20 offers so far and many from the top schools in the country.
Dutch says he has been offered by Notre Dame. "Yeah, I received it in the mail a while ago. I talked to Coach Willingham in May and he seemed like a really nice guy. He was really down to earth. I'm really impressed with Notre Dame and I'm excited to see them play on TV this year."
Dutch says he hasn't begun to narrow his list down yet however. "I don't have a top five or 10. I haven't really begun to do that yet. I'm hoping by the beginning of the season I can narrow it down to a top five and go from there."
Comments. He is a top student from a very good high school in Gonzaga Prep. The Irish should be in the race when all is said and done. He seems pretty interested and has the blazing speed (4.3) that the Irish are looking for.
Irish Eyes also caught up with quarterback Anthony Morelli. Morelli is still trying to schedule his unofficial visit to Notre Dame. "I haven't scheduled that trip yet. I need to talk to my Dad and figure out when we can make it there."
Some feel Morelli is a lock to sign with Pittsburgh. I asked him if he were leaning to just committing to Pitt and not taking his visit to Notre Dame. "No, no, I'm definitely taking a trip to Notre Dame. I want to see the school and talk to the coaches. I'm also taking a trip to Florida State."
Morelli is scheduled to attend the Elite 11 camp. Will his visit be before or after the Elite 11 camp? "I don't know yet. I leave on July 20th for the camp. I'm not sure if I'm going before or after the camp at this point. I hope to know that soon."
Comments. If he visits Notre Dame, I would say Notre Dame is very much in the race. If he doesn't, I would say Pitt will land him. I still feel that if he were certain Pitt was where he wanted to go, he would just commit now because he has wanted to get this over with for a while. I do feel Notre Dame is very much in the race for him.
