Hendrix Talks Irish Camp

One of the early names out of the blocks in the 2014 recruiting class is Huber Heights (OH) Wayne linebacker Dorian Hendrix who camped with Notre Dame last week. IrishEyes.com spoke with Hendrix about his Irish experience.

Huber Heights (OH) Wayne linebacker Dorian Hendrix may be a couple of years away from hitting a college field. However, Hendrix has already seen four programs offer and set his sights on Notre Dame for a recent camp.

"I went up to Notre Dame on Friday and it was a very good experience," said Hendrix. "The campus is beautiful and of all the campuses I've visited so far, it's one of the prettiest.

"I got a chance to check out the Grotto and the Guglielmino Athletic Complex. Everything was nice and I got a chance to meet (assistant) coaches (Bob) Diaco and (Mike) Elston. It was a good experience and I got to see one of the prettiest campuses in the country. So it was good."

How did Hendrix feel about his overall performance in front of the Irish?

"I did well," said Hendrix. "I thought I did pretty good and coach Diaco has a lot of energy. He taught us some techniques and things like that, but overall I thought I did well for the day."

What have the Irish told him about any early interest they may have?

"Before camp coach Elston told me he wanted me to do well and try and separate myself from the others," said Hendrix. "After camp I got a chance to talk with coach Elston and he told me coach Diaco really enjoyed me and said he really liked me and to call them in the next couple of days. So I'll be giving them a call in the next few days."

What would an offer from the Irish mean?

"If Notre Dame were to offer I would be very excited," said Hendrix. "It's a great school with great academics and it would be an achievement for me and be really big."
