However, the meaning of the 6-foot-5, 250-pound class of 2014 defensive end earning an offer at the end of Notre Dame camp was easy to feel.
"I've been a fan my whole life, so it was pretty awesome getting an offer from the team I cheered for since I was a kid," the Northern Valley Regional Demarest (N.J.) High product said. "It's pretty cool. A lot of people in my family liked them, but I've been a huge fan."
Trumbetti, who also camped at Notre Dame last June, arrived Saturday and began camping Sunday. And during his stay on campus he not only soaked up the knowledge from the coaching staff, but also many other things that embody the program.
"It's ridiculous," Trumbetti said. "The tradition behind everything …you don't really know how much tradition there is until you see it for yourself and have somebody explain it. It's awesome."
However, Trumbetti said he is not ready to make a college decision a few months prior to his junior season.
"I'm not going to commit right now because I want to check out a few other schools and see if they'll offer me," he said. "Then, I'll make my decision."
He made 40 tackles, including 5 ½ sacks, and had 28 catches for 356 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore.
