IE Quick Take: Michael Deeb

Notre Dame added another quality linebacker to the fold as Michael Deeb has pledged to the Irish. recruiting analyst Dave Berk gives his initial take on the newest member of the 2013 class.

Notre Dame added another linebacker to the 2013 recruiting class in FOX Sports NEXT three-star middle linebacker Michael Deeb out of Plantation (FL) American Heritage School. Here is a quick look at the 6-foot-2, 235-pound defender.

At 6-foot-2, 235-pounds, Michael Deeb has a solid frame and plays the game with great intensity. On film he shows the ability to drop into short coverage to make a pick or fill a gap in run support. Not shy when it comes to being physical, Deeb fits the bill of a natural middle linebacker playing the game with great effort and the willingness to sacrifice his body to make a play.

While on film Deeb shows above average lateral movement and the ability to go down the line and make a play, some might question his straight line speed. However, on several plays you see Deeb use a quick burst to sack the quarterback or make a play.

From the look of things Michael Deeb and Notre Dame are a solid fit on and off the field. Deeb shows the willingness to compete at a high level and those around him talk about his high character. On the field he'll enter the Irish program with a body ready to compete for playing time early as the Irish will look to fill the void left by the departure of Manti Te`o. Top Stories
