Nick Patterson has been busy. "I've gone to a combine in Tennessee. I went to the Nike Camp at Virginia Tech. I went to Mizzouri one-day camp, Ohio State one-day camp and Notre Dame one-day camp. That is going to be it for now. I'm focusing on my season now."
Patterson left with an offer from Ohio State. "That felt great getting an offer from the National Champions. I got to speak to Coach Tressel and I have a lot of respect for him. He is a great guy."
Patterson wasn't offered by Notre Dame however. "I didn't perform that well so it wasn't disappointing. I was playing 7-on-7 the day before and we played 11 games. I got home and we jumped right in the car for Notre Dame. I'm not making excuses, I just didn't do that well so I understand why they didn't offer."
The safety prospect did enjoy his visit however. "I was great. I had a good chance to speak to Coach Walters who would be my coach and who is recruiting me. He is a real nice guy. I also got to speak with Coach Willingham. My parents and I spoke with him for quite a while. I can see him being a mentor for me. Everyone should meet him because he is such an impressive guy. My parents loved him and so did I. They told me that they weren't going to offer today but I was still one of their prime recruits and they would be getting back to me."
Patterson now sits with offers from Ohio State, Missouri, Iowa State and Vanderbilt. "I would like to make an early decision but after the offer from Ohio State, I might take my time and see if other schools offer. I will have it narrowed down soon but I'm not sure I will decide before the season."
Comments. Patterson is very interested in Notre Dame. If the Irish offer him, expect Notre Dame to move right to the top. I don't know if he will be offered but he is a great kid and definitely Notre Dame quality. I'll keep in touch with Patterson.
